What
is Faizan e Islam? Faizan
e Islam is literally translated as the 'Bounty' or 'Abundance' of
Islam.
Allah Azza wa Jall says:
This day have I perfected your religion
for you completed my favor upon you and have chosen for you Islam
as your religion.
Surah Al Maida (5:3)
We can gain this bounty by applying
and taking wholesale the teachings of Islam and implementing them
in our daily lives.
Faizan e Islam has four goals. These
are:
Taleem - Education
Education has a very important role
to play in our society. It is related that:
I heard the Apostle of Allah (peace
be upon him) say: May Allah brighten a man who hears a tradition
from us, gets it by heart and passes it on to others.
Hadith Abu Dawud Narrated by Zaid
ibn Thabit (ra)
In terms of taleem we are facing
a turning point in the future of Islam in the UK. We have been facing
many upheavals and challenges. Because we have neglected the education
of our youth we have seen great disaffection. Faizan e Islam is
working towards a standard and comprehensive syllabus which can
be used across all centres of education. We hope to overcome differences
by educating our youth and showing that Islam is the most important
role in our life. By disciplining ourselves can we impart to ourselves
and others that Islam is the society all should aim towards.
Tarbiyyah - Purification
By Tarbiyyah we can control the 'Nafs'
or ego. Faced with the onslaught of negative images, we are struggling
to retain our Islamic culture in Western Society. We believe spiritual
activities like regular Zikr gatherings and community events can
be used to overcome and help our inward struggle. Being based within
Muslim circles will allow us to control our nafs, instil Islamic
morality and also establish brotherhood. Allah Azza wa Jall says:
And indeed, this your ummah is one
ummah and I am your Lord, so worship Me.
Surah Anbiya (21:92)
Tahzeeb ul Akhlaq - Rectification
of Ethics
Muslims are commanded to exhort others
to perform good acts and to abstain from evil. Ethics lies at the
heart of Islamic teachings and people are expected to act ethically
towards each other at all times.
Allah's Apostle said, "You see
the believers as regards their being merciful among themselves and
showing love among themselves and being kind, resembling one body,
so that, if any part of the body is not well then the whole body
shares the sleeplessness (insomnia) and fever with it."
Narrated by An Numan bin Bashir
By practical application of the Islamic
character can we improve our morals and ethics.
Ihya Akdaarul Islami - Revival
of Islamic Values
The revival of Islamic values can
be attained through da'wa or propagation of Deen and the practical
struggle in society. Allah Azza Wa Jall says:
Invite (all) to the way of thy Lord
with wisdom and beautiful preaching; and argue with them in ways
that are best and most gracious: for thy Lord knoweth best who have
strayed from His Path and who receive guidance.
Surah Nahl 16:125
Spreading the message of Islam can
be achieved by the practical application of Islam in one's life.
By making awareness of Islamic teaching to the residents of the
West we can implant Islamic thinking to western youth and overcome
the problems which afflict our Society.
Aim:
We have been established in the United
Kingdom and it is our belief that the best way of preserving and
spreading the word of Islam is through education. Our aim is to
bring the benefits of a comprehensive Islamic education and teaching
to Western Society. It has been a shortcoming of generations to
show the beauty of Islam learning.
There has been much verbal debate
on this subject but we feel that a practical application is the
only solution and is the best form of da'wa.
We are preparing a standard syllabus
for Muslim children aged between 4 to 15 which will allow youth
to progress through various stages of Islamic learning to equip
themselves for the challenges which the West has laid out for them.
A trial run will begin in Manchester in Summer 2002 and will then
be rolled out to other masjids and madrassahs.
The syllabus is designed to allow
youth to face the new challenges of the decline in Islamic morals.
It combines classical and modern teachings. This is to lay the foundation
of Institutions which will not only provide Secular and Islamic
education but will allow youth to practice Islam without restriction
and allow the purification to soul and thought.
Ultimately, we aim to create youth
that have had moral, spiritual, intellectual and practical needs
addressed through an Islamic upbringing. Practical application through
practical work and education is the medium for achieving this.
What do we do?
We are an educational and Da'wa organisation
aiming to create awareness and to educate Muslims in the following
way:
· Through a standard syllabus which will include Na'zra (learning
to recite the Qur'an), Hifaz (learning to memorise the Qur'an),
Seerah (the life of the Holy Prophet (SAW)), Sarf and Nahv (foundations
of Arabic Grammar).
· Eventually to establish fully functioning secondary schools
in the UK to allow children to develop spiritually, morally and
educationally in an Islamic environment.
· Holding circles in which we have Tafseer (explanation of
the Glorious Qur'an), Hadith, Fiqh, Seerah, Na'at (praising the
Prophet SAW), Tassawuff (Spirituality) and participating in Zikr
(Remembering your Lord).
· We have separate activities for Brothers and Sisters. For
